Just finished a build with 32GB(4x8GB) of 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance. The system thinks the memory speed is 2133 MHz and I can't find a way of changing it. Is there a chance that I didn't get what i paid for? The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-270X Gaming 7.

If or not your SPD rated speed for your RAM works is also dependent on your CPU and the strength of the IMC (Integrated Memory Controller).
If your CPUs official rated frequency is exceeded with OC RAM then your XMP profile would not work as OC RAM is not the JDEC standard. Although the MB is rated for OC RAM up to 4133MHz DDR4 that does not mean it will work with the CPU and has defaulted to 2133MHz. To get your rated speed will require Bios changes to Primary Timings and Voltage in Bios.

Sorry if it's late but just a heads up, I got super lucky with setting my vengeance ram to 3200mhz (I bought 3000mhz ram as you did) so if you want to try your hand at overclocking, give it a shot

Thanks - maybe I'll give it a go after everything's been stable for a while.
