Got my hands on a i7 3632mq pulled from a laptop which doesn't work, but turns on with no display. It used to heat up like crazy and turn off so I suspected mobo might have been damaged.
Cleaning the processor die I found some blemishes/marks on it. I made sure it was not residual thermal compound. It appears like bubbles on the surface of the processor die.
Is it possible the issue might be with the processor?
I'm trying to get my hands on a replacement mobo but it takes about 1 month to reach so wondering if its worth getting it at all.
Also the pic attached shows the blemishes like unreal metal marks. I guess it was due to the flash. The marks are faint but noticeable.
Any help much appreciated.

Laptop cpu can handle a little more heat than a desktop cpu and I think it would thermal throttle to prevent damage and If there was a chip or crack in the die then the cpu pretty much dead I don't think the blemishes either are anything to be concern. At the same time we don't really know until you test it, but it really rare for the cpu to be dead.
