Hello!

I've been a big fan of PCs for a while now, but because of some recent life choices, I'm gonna need to buy a laptop, in addition to my home PC.

I'm looking for something from ASUS (bcs I personally think they're the best), with an i5 (or perhaps an i7, but I think it might be too expensive).

I'm planning on using it mostly for music production (digital audio workstations, to be precise). However, I also want to be able to watch movies without lagging behind, and maybe even play some games -- although I'd probably use my PC for that. Because of this, I don't really know if I need a dedicated video card or not.

Also, I'd probably be more comfortable with having 1TB HDD then an SSD, because using external drives while editing music might be annoying (and I'm quite lazy). Oh, and I need as much RAM as I can get. Whether it's getting a 4GB laptop and replacing the card or simply getting an 8GB one, that's what I'm going for.

My budget is €600 TOPS.

My current pick is the X556UQ-DM920D, but I was thinking that I would minimize the spent amount and maximize the gained power if I just posted on here.

What do you think?

Hello, Alex:

This ASUS is not the exact same model as the one you're considering, but it's €520 (+ shipping) from eBay, specifically Germany:

Note that it has no OS and the keyboard is German. I don't know if you can use your music software on Linux or Ubuntu, but it does come with a 1TB HDD and 8GBs of RAM.

Cheers,
GreyCatz.

You're not going to get a gaming laptop for 600 euros.

Computers these days have plenty of RAM, and RAM is dirt cheap.

You should be able to get an I3 or I5 laptop with decent iGPU for that price.
