Hi there. I've got an Intel Pentium g4560(3.5ghz) and an asus mobo rog strix b250f gaming which supports ddr4 ram up to 2400mhz! Im interested in buying Corsair Vengeance Led 16gb at 2666mhz and here are my questions..will my mobo auto down clock the ram at 2400mhz and will my whole system run properly with this specific cpu? Thanks in advance..

Solution
Your CPU is capable of running >2400 MHz RAM, but it's considered an overclock, so it's only possible with a Z170/Z270 mobo. This is true of every Skylake/Kaby Lake CPU as far as I know.

G4560 does not support more than 2400mhz, 2400mhz is the max speed you can do with G4560 i recommend you get 2400mhz RAM instead because that 2666mhz will go to waste, I also have G4560 and i made the mistake of getting a 2666mhz ram the ram will work just fine but the 2666mhz will go to waste, 2400mhz is the max. Do not do the same mistake i did.

First of all, thanks for your answer..im going to upgrade my cpu (g4560) soon so i dont mind if 2666mhz ram is a waste! My concern is if my whole system will run properly with this specific ram (2666mhz) with this cpu and mobo because both the cpu and the mobo support up to 2400mhz ram..
