For hierarchical drives letters reason.

After changing the almost full storage hdd letter from F to E (and almost empty new gaming hdd from E to F - though i doubt this new gaming hdd letter change is relevant to the problem) music played from the storage drive in windows media player is stop working - wmp crushes sometimes for just the usual crush window and other times due to "the rpc server is unavailable" window. Another example, audacity will load an mp3 but i can not hear the mp3 which is being played in the program even though the windows sound settings are perfectly fine.

My C which is the os hdd and D cdrom drive letters are untouched.

Non of the hdd's are partitioned, changing back the storage hdd letter to F and the gaming hdd letter to E did not solve the problem. Shutting down the computer did not solve the problem. My os is windows 10.

How do i solve this?

Thanks in advance.

Return the drive letters to what they were originally.
Reboot.

Did you also do anything else during this process? Change some application settings? Anything in the Registry?
Hello... the E:\ drive letter is reserved for the Win OS boot area (reserved) of your C :\ drive... and changing drive letters "AFTER" software and APPS are installed can cause problems with their operations... So typically you Don't want to change the drive letters after any DATA or APPS are loaded or installed on it B /

"if it ain't broken... don't try and Fix it" applies here for drive letters B ) let the OS choose your drive letters... You can then give the Drive a 'Name" to make things easier to read and keep organized B /

Well..your media player is thinking one drive letter, you changed it to something else.
Hence, the media player cannot find those files.

Unless you've something else drastically wrong in the middle of all this, changing it back to what it was originally should have fixed things.
Have you rebooted during this process?

I maybe uninstalled a program after i changed the letters, maybe, but i don't recall which program if at all... I already returned the letters back to what the computer chose originally so don't understand how the errors remain since the letters are back to their original place... meaning F: storage and E: games...
The errors remain... What is the next step?
