Hi.

I recently bought a 4GB stick of RAM off a trusted amazon seller "Offtek" for (a rounded) £27.

I read through the details thoroughly, and it said the RAM was 100% compatible with my Laptop model.

My Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C50D-B-120.

The new RAM I bought: 4GB RAM Memory Toshiba Satellite C50D-B-120 (DDR3-12800) - Laptop Memory Upgrade from OFFTEK https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XNKTCJ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_jOCszbSMF4TBQ

The RAM that came with my system (sourcing Speccy) is a Samsung 4GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-10-24)

Motherboard (again, sourcing Speccy) is Toshiba ZBWAE (P0)

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit

Forgive my naivety for being pretty clueless when it comes to the innards of a Computer.

I was 100% confident that when I Installed the new RAM, it would be compatible. This, however, was not the case.

Upon installing the new RAM, putting the case back together etc. The Laptop would turn itself on and off again. After removing the new RAM, it would boot up normally.

The RAM slots are identical, but opposite eachother. So to fit the new RAM, I'd have to place it label-face down so the pins matched. (Worth a mention).

I took all precautions: grounding myself, laying Laptop and components on solid surface, holding RAM correctly etc.

I'm clueless to what the issue could be. The laptop model number and RAM specs appear to be identical.

Anyone have a scooby-doo?

Solution
Your laptop calls for DDR3L while the RAM in the link is DDR3. The differance is DDR3 is 1.5v while DDR3L is 1.2~1.35v. Here is a DDR3L 4GB stick that should work.
