Is this at all normal for my i7 950 running at 4 ghz to be at 80-87 degrees c under full load with prime95? I'm using an EVGA CLC 120 as my cooler.

But the cooler came out this year. :(
Oh well.
Remount it, sounds like the baseplate isn't making proper contact.
They look more normal given the OC.
Can you take a measure while gaming or after gaming for 30 mins or so?
I'd expect mid 70s.

That is a little warm but within the realm of reason. I aim for less then 70C under full load but in the past i have had chips under full load at 85C or less for long term usage without any issues. Also you could try adding fresh/more/better thermal paste to see if you can drop the temps a little. If you start busting 90C then i would get worried.

This is the screenshot of my temps right now while watching youtube. This definitely is a bit odd.

I didn't recently buy the cooler. It was from my old motherboard and cpu.

I'll be sure to do that. I just don't want to keep the 950 under a constant heat like this. I'd rather not have to make any upgrades any time soon!

Ended up upgrading to a Xeon w3690 recently and it fixed everything. The 950 just seems like a hot chip.
Currently running under 60 degrees C at full load at all times, and 25 degrees and under at idle.
