So i've been using my fx-8350 around a year. And I have noticed some fps drops in games. Like year ago I had around 300-400fps in csgo. Now only 150-250fps. Same thing in daily use, started slowing down. Games crashing some times. So is there some driver updates that I should be doing for my cpu?

Solution
CS:GO got a heap of graphical updates both engine and map wise, it takes a little more to run at higher settings now.
The FX series is also quite unstable in terms of gaming unfortunately, that's just how it is.

I don't know about anything for your CPU, but Windows has always been notorious about slowing down with age. If you aren't in a position to do a backup of all data and a fresh install, then maybe you should uninstall your drivers and reinstall them fresh at least.

I don't know about that. I have been using a FX CPU for 3 years now with no problems with games, the sole exception being the first Mass Effect on the planet Noveria. But that is a bug covering all AMD, not just the FX processor. I used a FX6200 for nearly three years and now have a 8350 myself and it plays games just fine at ultra quality. Fallout 4, Mass Effect Andromeda, Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition. All run flawlessly.

Honestly though, if you are getting more then 60 fps, I wouldn't worry about it. It is a biological fact that the eye can't really distinguish much faster than that. If you can see a difference between 120 FPS and 400 FPS, it is your mind playing tricks on you, LOL.

There are no driver updates for your cpu. Have you run anti virus programs lately? Check your task manager to see if anything is running consuming a large amount of resources. Do you have unnecessary programs running at start up ? What speed is your CPU running at? Have you done any experimenting in the bios which might have changed some of the values? Something is effecting your system. Your experience is not normal, even for that CPU.

Lmao....
So Youtube made 60fps video available even though you think the human eye can only see 40fps?
When you move your eyes fast, or when you see blur in games that's where frames are missing.
Until that's 100% smooth, more frames will give benefits.
My bad, all the 100Hz, 144Hz and 240Hz monitors on the market must be fake, no wonder people buy them.
Look at a 144hz monitor will ya?
Edit: Ah, I see you've edited it from 40 and 120. :)

In addition to my reply to your posting, one respondent mentioned that sometimes a clean refreshing of an operating can sometimes cure a world of problems. That is so true. It might be your last choice but it helps a lot of times. A good cleansing does a computer good.

I didn't edit it. You just read it wrong the first time. I never said 40FPS. I said the eye can't really see much difference above 60. And yes, 240Hx monitors are out there. They are not fake. But people buy them under false pretenses. They mind cannot comprehend frames that fast. That is just a human limitation. If you can see faster than that, it is your mind playing tricks on you.

It's not unstable in gaming. Lower single core IPC, yes. Turn down few quality settings and problem solved.
