New build asus strix x99 gaming i7 6900k. I went for the thermaltake water 3.0 rgb 240 cooler.
I am getting an error in the bios that I can not fix. It says cpu fan error. Make sure it is plugged in the cpu fan header or adjust low level in bios.
The fan spins and is working correctly as all temperatures are stable.
Both chassis fans are detected by the bios and speeds are shown.
The thermaltake fan however is not shown in bios, N/A is shown and no speeds registered.
I've tried lowering the detection rate in the bios, I've switched modes Auto/ PWM etc. But I still have the error. If I was keeping the pc for myself I would just live with it. But it is sold so I need to get this sorted asap. Any help welcome.

Solution
If you've connected the waterblocks' 3 pin cable to the cpu fan header then it sounds like you have a bad watercooler.
To test you can connect one of the Riing fans to the cpu header and see if that gets detected, if it does then its not the motherbd.
