Greetings reader
I'm currently rocking this around 4 year old system and I do believe I am in need of some upgrades.
CPU: A10-6800K
GPU: RX 480 (Previously a R7 260x but picked up a RX 480 on my journey)
MB: Gigabyte F2A88XN-WIFI
RAM: 2x4GB DDR3
Storage: 120gb Kingston SSD and 1TB WD Blue HDD
PSU: Corsair CX600M

So my question is; is it worth taking out the GPU, Storage and PSU and chuck it into another case with some upgrades?
Currently I'm leaning towards getting a 7600k, Z170-A, DDR4 memory and some cooling, which this current case I have lacks extremely.
But should I consider getting any of the new Ryzen 5 processors, I mainly just do gaming and these extra cores and threads don't seem to affect that too much.

I wouldn't buy an i5 anymore. Too many of the newer titles are starting to do better on ryzen than the i5s. Today the 7600k is probably a bit better but down the road it has 1/3 the threads of 1600 and the same price. Especially if Intel does start offering 6 core mainstream parts I suspect things will rapidly use many more than 5 threads. I'd definitely bring the 480, the SSD , and case. If that PSU is one of those green lettered Corsair builders series psus don't reuse it.

Care to explain what's bad about the PSU? I'm also swapping case as the current one I'm using is mATX and has really bad cable management and air flow.

They are known for medium lifespans (2-4 years) and not overly high end protections. So when they fail they have a better chance than a good PSU of bringing down other stuff with them... Once again assuming it's the green lettered one, the new 450/550/650 cxm series are great value units.

Would it be worth it to spend that extra for a 1600X for potential overclocks? I've tried some with my current crappy CPU and getting mediocre results but don't wanna push it higher because of temps and now the news of this PSU. What wattage would suffice for an overclocked 1600X and the RX 480? Currently looking at the RM750x from Corsair.
