$700 CAD Budget for a computer mainly for watching movies?

Hey everybody,

Would love some help in finding parts with a $700 CAD budget. Building a computer for my dad where he mainly just watches movies but enough where I can upgrade it if my sister decides to use it later on.

Would a Ryzen or Intel be better nowadays? Are there any cheap good looking towers out there?

Depending on what you are doing. I would probably go with a nice cheap GTC 1050 or RX 560 (if you can find one). No need to go all high end. Again, it truly depends on what you are doing. The G4560 can also handle very light gaming as well.

Well since you are in Canada, prices will be a bit higher. I wouldn't go with Ryzen since you need a GPU. Since there is no gaming, just go with a nice Kaby Lake. That way if you are using it for Netflix in 4K, you can watch it without any restrictions.

You honestly don't need anything fancy. What will your sister be doing? You also may get away buying a cheap pre-build.

My dad uses it everyday since he's handicap now just surfing and watching his movies. My sister might use it for just some basic applications, I don't see it being too intensive either.

Again, you don't need anything extravagant. I did indeed forget to add memory. Even though the 430w isn't the best quality, since you are not using it for intensive work, all you need to do is power it on and watch movies, nothing else will draw power.
