Can I expand Windows drive using another hard drive?

So I ordered a new PC that includes a 500 GB hard drive, I currently have another 500 GB hard drive on hand, both are 7200 rpm and essentially the same drive. I was wondering if I would be able to expand the 500 GB drive that comes included with my new PC, and has Windows on it, with the other drive that I have, without ruining the installation of Windows on that drive. All the articles I've found show how to do this for drives that are empty, and I don't really have another drive. Thanks in advance.

Both, but I'm doing to do a clean install of it once I get the PC, it's Windows 10 so the activation should save online.
