Question for GPU and CPU utilisation in BF1

So in BF1, as long as i am aware, i experience a bottleneck from my fx-8350 on my GTX 1070. Yet people say that when a gpu or cpu is bottleneck, it's utilisation goes way up. But in my case, my gpu utilisation stays around 60 and my cpu cores (unparked cores) stay at 70% most of the time. Isn't nvidia's GPU boost technology supposed to power up my GPU to 99%? And if it's a bottleneck, shouldn't my CPU usage be higher? Thanks

Solution
Took me a while to figure out what was going on. But your CPU is going from 70-80%. I strongly feel like it's a true bottleneck. Again, BF1 is designed for newer chips, and older hardware may not be able to handle it.
It could be possible. However, your FX chip is severely outdated, and BF1 is deisnged to take advantage of more cores and threads. Even though your chip has the cores, it is not effiecent enough. The IPC (instruction per clock) is terrible. If you look at BF1's recommended specs, they are asking for a i5-6600K. If you look at this comparison, you can see where your FX stands: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-6600K-vs-AMD-FX-8350

Bottom line, the GPU is not the issue, but it is the CPU. 70% is still a bit high for a game, and your GPU is not truly taking advantage. Your FX is just not optimized enough to handle that type of game.

My question to you is, are noticing lag or anything like that? What about lowering the resolution and changing the graphical settings?

Yes i do have lag. Around 50 FPS but it varies from map to map. I use ultra settings. What worries me is the utilization, is that normal?

ok, so first of all, sorry it took so long to reply (I had some technical difficulties). So here is the video/report:

I lowered resolution scale by 20% and used medium settings: I noticed my GPU usage went down and FPS up and CPU usage is the same.
So i'll let you analyze it and hopefully identify the problem :) (sorry for the bad quality)

This might sound stupid, but why is my GPU utilization at 50%? Shouldn't it be higher? I remember benchmarking a while ago and my GPU utilization was at 99% (I am guessing its nvidia's gpu boost).

No matter what the CPU will be a bottleneck.

Some configuration file is setting a FPS limit that the game can't change. The easiest way to fix is to reinstall the game. One of the things you can try is to go to %userprofile%\Documents and see if there's a Battlefield 1-related *.ini file that has some FPS numbers in there.

Because your CPU is not fast enough to feed the GPU information, so it's barely waiting. So basically it's like this:

CPU gathers information. GPU draws stuff on the screen. If the GPU is waiting on the information, the utilization is going down. CPU is trying to gather the information it needs, but it's not able to keep up with the design of the game.

In layman's terms, think of the CPU as a waiter, and you are the GPU. The faster the waiter can serve, the faster you eat. However, if the waiter is working to get the food, and you are not being served, then your utilization will good down.

Hope that helps.

I tried to imagine the same thing, but if it can't keep up, shouldn't be at like 90 some utilization since the GPU is waiting?
(P.S. Sorry if i ask so many questions i just really want to know :p)

In most cases yes. With yours, you have a decent (maybe that's a bit of an overstatement) CPU to handle this game. It's still slowing down, but not enough to hit 90%. Like the other guy said, you may want to uninstall the game. IF you don't care about saves, I will consider using IOBit to do a powerful uninstall.

Thanks you so much! Oh and also, really really last question, what is the normal voltage for a GPU to run at in game and what wattage for CPU. I promise i won't bother you after this xD

Make sure your not at 30MhZ because that sounds like what is happening.
