So my computer has been running really slow lately and I tried to disable some of the start up programs, but when I disable them, I click apply, and then OK. But when I start up my computer all the applications still launch and when I go back to MSCONFIG all the start up Applications I disabled are enabled again, please help.

What are (some of) the start up programs that you tried disabling?
It could be that if you disabled them through the OS, there are still settings within the programs that cause for them to launch at start up, and those settings are taking precedence over Windows settings.
