Can static electricity go through my gpu box

my gpu is in an anti static bag. I opened the box on carpet but I didn't touch the gpu I touched the styrofoam. It's been closed since then.

nothing should be wrong with the GPU at all. You barely touched it. It takes a large charge to damage something like then when it's not connected to anything.

If it helps calm you any, I've built PCs on carpet wearing socks and I've had no problems with them. I just grounded myself every so often to discharge any static.
