Question from BrettWilson : "Need help on new pc build."
BrettWilson :
Hi all. Just built my new pc and I'm having trouble with my gpu. It lights up and the fans are running but I downloaded the Nvidia control panel and it says "you are not currently using a display attached to an Nvidia gpu" What do I do? My parts are (i7700k, gtx 1080, asus strix z270 mobo) any help is appreciated
constantine_99 :
dude, ur plugging your graphic cable to ur mobo right? change it to your GPU or the system won't detect it
how do I do that @constantine? first pc I've built so idk what I'm doing wrong.
when u plug the graphic cable, u see that there's 2 ports that looks the same in different location right? (1 of the is vertical and the other 1 is horizontal) well right now u're probably plugging ur cable to the vertical one (the one on the upper part of PC), which is the mobo port, what u should've do is to plug it on the other port (the GPU port) else the graphic card that ur PC use will be the integrated one, not the discrete one
edit: of course the GPU is running, whether u connect the cable or not, when ur PC turned on, ur GPU will get power too so they will work even when u didn't plug ur graphic cable to it
