Did you read the link to the forum I posted? He thinks its my VRM which don't have heat sinks. Also I'm pretty sure my heatsink is fine.

Thanks for the reply. I looked for those options in my BIOS but didn't see them. Are you familiar with the MSI 970a g43 BIOS? This is just a picture I pulled from Google. This is not my BIOS.

I'm a noob when it comes to this so talk to me like a 5 year old please.

Much easier way: Download techpowerup ThrottleStop, go to "Internet" or "Battery" profile, check "set multiplier" and then check "power saver" and it'll automatically put your CPUs multiplier to the lowest without going to the BIOS. I use it whenever there's a power cut, to minimize overall power.

Don't want to download anything. I just wish someone could tell me exactly what i need to do in my BIOS. But no one seems to be able to.

Why mess up things in your BIOS when a few clicks can fix it? Anyway, you can go to BIOS, find the CPU Core multiplier ratio and lower it down. Usually it's multiplied by 100MHz, so if your multiplier is 35, frequency will be 3500 MHz or 3.5 GHz. Downclock yourself.

Remember, anything going wrong with the BIOS can end up with a black screen and no POST. Remove CMOS battery to restore BIOS to default.

People say that ThrottleStop is for laptops though?

I do appreciate your tip but I'm weird about downloading things.

I've used it and it's not at all "WEIRD". You can just download it, minimize it to the tray, set your clocks, enable it on startup and be done with the problem. On Windows 7, it uses just 4.5 MB RAM. You won't even notice it.

It's a far better alternative to doing stuff into the BIOS.

What do you know about AMD Overdrive or MSI Afterburner?

Other things I've read say use AMD Overdrive to Underclock/Undervolt. Thanks for your input man. Don't take it personal that I don't want to download ThrottleStop. I've just never heard of it. The description specifically says it's for laptops. I'm the weird one. I dont download anything I've never heard of or isnt backed by the brand of item I'm using.

Don't "undervolt" either. Don't touch voltages. Just search google about TechPowerUP ThrottleStop. And give it a shot, it's the best and the simplest.

Just see a youtube video of it. People say it's for "laptops" because MOSTLY LAPTOPS have throttling issues (throttling = limited clock speeds) due to heating issues. People say a lot of things...

When you hear the OP say that they don't download anything they don't know of and have no idea about the BIOS, you don't ask them to touch voltages :)

I myself greatly improved my i7 7700K's temps by undervolting it from 1.45v vCore (AUTO, not my fault xD) to 1.2v vCore. It's a huge temperature difference, but the OP's concern isn't temperature, it's just the clock speed.

I did tell you, you need to change the CPU ratio multiplier down from it's base clock number, which I believe is 40 given it's a 4GHz base chip, and undervolt the CPU by a little bit to improve thermals.

But what I was telling you though was I didn't see those options in my BIOS and if you knew what my MSI BIOS looked like. Also when you say turn my voltages down what would I turn them down to?
