PC will not let me launch ANY games

The computer has an i5-6600k and a gtx 960. I don't believe the problem stems from hardware at all, as the computer can boot up fine, install the games themselves, and play videos in 4k. The graphics card's driver is installed. The only issues I have are that games will not launch, and where my laptop would tell me the exact model of my mouse/keyboard, the computer will only say "generic keyboard" and "generic mouse", and it will not register anything except for the keyboard and mouse. Any ideas?

its sounds like it cant see your mouse and keyboard.
either the drivers to both are faulty or something else.

Open the DEVICE MANAGER, look at the mouse/keyboard section. If there are problems with them, it should be a "!" on them
You could also try to update the drivers on them

Have the laptop been like this a long time?
If you know when it started to happen, you could use RESTORE POINT option in windows.
