Solution
The classic question of upgrading now or waiting for something better. If you have the money and feel like the 980 is holding you back then you should upgrade. The worst part about upgrading is that fact that something better will come out at some point.

The 1080ti is a beast of a card and will definitely be beast for the next few years. Nvidia will come out with a new lineup by the fourth quarter of the year as they usually do but the 1080ti will still be a force to be reckoned with.

To directly answer your question I would say that it's completely subjective and up to you based on your wants and needs.

I agree. If the 980 isn't meeting your needs (frame rate drops at your preferred resolution, having to turn down graphics settings etc.) then upgrading will be worth it. If the 980 is still fine then there is no reason not to wait for the 11-series or Vega!
