Hi, I was looking for a laptop for photoshop, DxO, browsing, and a little bit of gaming. (preferably i7-7700HQ + Nvidia 1050, or the like)

I came across two that I liked:

1. Asus Gaming laptop - so I think will have better cooling, and no fried GPUs.
2. Asus slim laptop - presumably with less effective cooling, but so much more compact.

How much of an impact will the larger chassis have on cooling, performance and longevity? The slim one surely looks sexier (to me) and more portable, but reliability is much more important to me.

Solution
The main difference will be cooling as the slim laptop will most likely run louder as it is slimmer. Also the slim version has an ssd and an hdd but it will be difficult to upgrade as they have sealed most of the parts whereas the strix will be more upgrade friendly if you wanted to put an ssd.

On larger Gpus veeery big, but the 1050 its not a beast nor generate a lot of heat, anyway on heavy gamming you are going still to get enought heat from the CPU and some from the GPU to have a diference.

You probably will not have huge dfierences in reliability (it will trottle down before that) but some in performance/noise.

Btw the gamming laptop have better wifi and keyboard also (2x2 Dual Band) but you will loose the SSD, on the configuratin that i open it have only HDD....
