so i just made a conntection between my two laptops via the router and trying to move a 50GB file. It took 15 minutes to move 2%. What can i do to speed it up?

Solution
Your second laptop has a "FE" NIC in it (Fast Ethernet 10/100 not 1000Base-T) Max transfer rate is 100Mb/s so 10MB is 80Mb/s with network overhead this is a reasonable speed.

Now i get you. Sorry for the misunderstandig.

TG-789 Modem

First one: NCI: Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165
PC: MSI Ge72 6QC

Second one; NCI: Realtek PCIe FE family controller
PC: HP G72 NTOEBOOK PC

50 GB is a pretty large file to transfer over WIFI. Have you done a lan speed test? WIFI speeds can be affected by many factors: distance, construction materials used in the house, other WIFI networks in the area, etc. Is this just a one-time file transfer you are needing to do? If so, I would try using a wired ethernet connection.

I occasionally backup some files from one computer to another on my wired network and a 100GB file takes less than 30 minutes.
