I'm looking for the best graphics card for the 860K, and my budget is under 100$. There are a variety of choices, and I have tried reading other forums, but I could not find a common answer. I'm thinking about the RX 460, or something around that performance. I don't really have a good understanding of bottle necking, but I'm pretty sure it limits the computer's ability, so minimize that when trying to find one.
Thanks.

It's not going to matter, you want to upgrade your CPU. You are using a very old CPU, and it's not efficient enough to handle games. Sure the RX 460 or GTX 1050 could work, but you will get frustation when trying to play demanding titles. Not to mention the RAM you have as well.

I recommend you save up, and do a completely overhaul. You can get a nice "starter" PC for around $450.

I would do an overhaul too, but if you just cant afford I would get either the rx or 1030. You will be fine with the cpu. If he is buying a sub 100 gpu he wont be playing very demanding titles

You be surprised on how many people ask for GPUs under $100, yet they want to know the FPS they could get in BF1 or GTA V.

I'm really not looking to revamp my entire setup... I'm not looking for perfection, basically just enough to play some games with high frame rates. Is the R7 260X a good GPU for this CPU? That is the card I currently have, and I am about to get the 860K.

Oh i know what you mean tho. I would do the overhaul if he has the money but its whatever works for him. the cpu wont hold me back tho. Would be just fine with the lower end cards. A better cpu would be ideal tho

It works, but wouldn't really give the optimal performance. Again you want that high FPS. Unless you are willing to play on 720p in low settings, it's not going to cut it. Also, it depends on what games you are playing.

How would the R7 260X do with this CPU? I already have this card.

you can actually try to step up in the GPU section so long as you will bump to a more GPU bound resolution (1440p and up). but it's going to be a hit or miss:

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/intel_core_i9_7900x_processor_review,17.html.

but there are games that even at 1440p will require some CPU horsepower.

based on my own experience (i5-3450 + gtx1060 3gb) borderlands 2 was stuttering due to my old CPU a bit at 1080p so i DSR to 1440p which resulted to the fps being more stable (not higher FPS but more stable with the FPS not jumping all over the place). but it will still be up to you if you're going short term vs long term upgrades.
