I am planning to buy used i5-2500 (sandy bridge)[non k version] for my gaming pc + tight on a budget . will this processor run for future gaming , should i wait for savings to buy gpu later on (6 or 7 months later) Instead of investing on cpu + basic component + more on ram (except on gpu)

Solution
If you OC the 2500k, it can be almost as fast as current-gen 4C4T CPUs and you shouldn't have trouble pairing it with a GTX1080 if you wanted to and could afford it.

Just like the CPU though, if you don't mind sacrificing details and eye-candy, you can get away with a much lower-end GPU in most games and the 1050Ti can last for a while too. I used to use a HD5770 until seven months ago, way beyond its "best before" date.

What is your budget?
If you really are looking at cheap CPUs, I recommend the Pentium g4650. Costs about $60, but will perform similarly to the 2500 in games. Also, you get a much more modern platform (Better audio, Native USB 3/3.1, M.2 SSDs) plus the option to upgrade to much more powerful kabylake (perhaps even coffee lake?) CPUs in the future.

While an i5-2500 should be fine for most current games, quad core is beginning to run out of steam in some of the more CPU-intensive titles and you can expect this trend to accelerate now that the R5-1600 brought 6C12T near the $200 mark and Intel's Coffee Lake will also bring hex cores to the mainstream late this year or early in 2018.

Well, I am Indian too. So how much are you getting the used system for? Are you willing to shop from amazon.in/flipkart? I could recommend you some parts if you specify your budget.

How long any given CPU will be usable for largely depends on your requirements and expectations. If you 'require' everything at Ultra and 60+ FPS, the CPU will last you nowhere near as long as if you don't mind toning down details a little to drop the most CPU-intensive non-essential eye candy and don't mind dips to 40 FPS or less.

In general, single-player games are less demanding too.

Maintaining a frame rate that is at least equal to your monitor's refresh rate yields the smoothest game play your monitor is capable of. Significant dips below that are perceived as stutter and beyond a certain point, such stutter can get annoying to the point of the game being unpleasant to play. How low that threshold is varies from person to person and game to game.

As I already said, if you don't mind tuning down details to get frame rates back up, the i5-2500 should be usable for a fair while. I have a five years old i5-3470 and still don't foresee any reason to upgrade it any time soon. Then again, the only game I play a significant amount of is WoW which isn't particularly heavy.
