Hi everyone i have an old pc but recently buyed a used processor a e8600 to replace my old and still reliable e7300 for more speed, every time i use the e8600 to play a game like Civilization VI the cpu sits at 70° and the cores go to over 85°-96° degrees in which case i just shut down in order to not damage anything, i doubt thats a reasonable temperature for a cpu in use, the e7300 general temp dont go over 60° while playing the same, they got the same termal paste, one additional heatsink, no dust, so Why? i wonder why the e8600 cores get to that temperature, is it damaged? Thanks in advance for any insight or information you can share.

Soo i see your bios has vcore settings.Try to set vcore to 1.2v and download cpu-z as portable. When you start cpu-z at last tab "Bench" set stress and watch core temp if it crashes set voltage to 1.225V , or if it goes high again maybe you havent putted stock cooler propetly, try to re mount with new paste and clip stock cooler diagonally soo it means top clips are 1-2 bottom ones are 3-4 ypu go 1-4 2-3.

Thanks for you quick answer Robert i got the standard Intel socket 775 aluminum heat Sink & 3.5" fan w/4-Pin connector for the cpu and a 80mm exaust fan at the back, my motherboard is a ASRock P43DE and my psu Cooler Master RS500 just in case, do i simply need better ventilation? why the e7300 doesnt get hot with the same same settings.

Hi Robert it really helped the temperature by lowering vcore to 1.2v, only strange reading i get is from speedfan AUX dunno what that is but it went from 33° to 69°. I wonder why?
