Hi ,
I have Gtx 980ti Hybrid ( Evga ) which i bough about a month ago . It was working fine till this morning but all of sudden temperature spiked and fps dropped to 10-12 on everything .
Usually at idle temperature is around 29-35°C and now it is at 65-70 . And when i run anything like after effects or premier pro or run any game it goes up to 9 and fps drops to 10-12 .
Help .

What temperature is it hitting under load? If it's idle temp is 65-70, then it will definitely be thermal throttling when under load, hence the low fps.

Did you do something to the cards or computer, like move it about, bumped it hard? The reason I ask is because it sounds like the cooler has dislodged itself from the GPU and isn't taking the heat away. If this is the case, you'll need to remove the cooler and reapply the thermal paste (after removing the old paste) and reattach the cooler.

Yes all the fans are running , everything is working . But when i start any program or game , fans start running at very high speed .
And how can i do that . The thermal paste thing . Can i check that myself . Because that might be the case because i don't move my PC but it does get bummed every now and than .

And it never gets bummed hard , just a lil . And 1 more thing 1st time it happens i was playing a game and all of a sudden it started fans started running at high speed and fps dropped .

At 95 C the card is overheating, at which point the card will throttle down and the fps will drop. You said you have the hybrid card, so that has a liquid cooler as well as the blower on the card, right? I wonder if the pump for the liquid cooler has stopped working, I don't know how you would test for that.

I think the next logical step would be to check the cooler is seated correctly, this would require replacing the thermal paste, you'll need to buy some paste....any website that sells computer components will sell paste. I found a good video on how to attach a hybrid cooler to an EVGA 980Ti, it should give you all the info you need to open the card and remove the cooler. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MepbdKc6m_s

Thank you so much for your help . I ll try that .
1 more question could it be something else . Because i m a lil worried that it might not work properly again , cuz i have had bad experience in past with electronics .

There is no reason you can't use your card again, just go carefully so that you don't damage anything. If it still runs hot after checking the cooler and paste, it's most likely the pump has stopped working. I don't think they can be fixed, so you may need to buy another liquid cooler for it. But, before doing that, check for leaks that might have caused the coolant to be lost from the system.

Hi , i opened up my pc and card and problem was with liquid cooling . It leaked and its not working. So where can i get a cooling system from my GPU and which one .
And people are also saying that i can use corsair cpu coolers if i use universal bracket with my pc . But i would rather buy a cooler for gpu . Can u please help ?.
Thanks .

Ok, so there is a leak. Can you see where the leak is? Maybe you can refill the system and fix the leak? If not, you'll need to buy another cooler for it https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=400-HY-5188-B1

Does this cooler works with 980ti ?
And i m not exactly sure how it got leaked . It was leaking from within the card from the pump i think because water was dripping form inside the card .
Fortunately card is working fine .

Yes, that cooler works on all blower style cards, including the 980ti.
