Around a month ago my computer randomly rebooted while playing a game. I got the ASUS Anti-Surge screen when it booted up. I didn't think much of it and continued to play, but it continued to reboot with the same screen. Sometimes I was able to play for hours or even days, other times it would happen within a few seconds of booting up the game. It seemed to last longer if I let my computer idle for a while. It stopped happening up until this point, and just started doing it again. Just to clarify it only happens when I play games, never has it happened when I'm just browsing the internet. I even tried disabling the ASUS Anti-Surge with no success. Any help is much appreciated!

PC SPECS:

CPU: I5 6500

GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

RAM: G.SKILL RIPJAWS V

MOBO: ASUS H170 PRO GAMING

PSU: XFX TS 550

Solution
Your PSU is absolutely fine. GTX 1060 can take maximum +12v Rail power upto 120W where your PSU's +12v Rail is higher than that (Maximum 528W on +12v Rail). Everything's fine.

ASUS Anti-Surge is basically when all your PC's power cables aren't properly connected and are causing surges. Take out ALL the power cables out of your motherboard, graphics card and HDDs/SSDs/CD-DVD Drives and plug them back in, 100% properly tight with absolutely no gap in between. It'll be hard, leaving dents on your fingers for a few minutes but it should be absolutely tight.

UPDATE: You don't need to spray anything, or clean anything unless you want to and if it's full of dust. Use the high pressure air force carefully that it shouldn't damage any...

I've had this 1060 and the 550w PSU for around 7 months. Is that normal for it to take that long to start showing issues?

Would it be as simple as cleaning the case and all of the components?

it doesn't appear to be dusty

if its only after a year then its hard to say, you can always give it a try just don't remove the CPU cooler

Is it best to do the dusting with a compressed air can?

yes, but if you are going to spray it at any fans hold it so it doesn't spin when blowing the compressed air on it to prevent damage

I've had alot of anti surge issues with ASUS but once I figured out what it exactly was, my system ran all fine.
