I3 2100 Socket 1155 LGA upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade from my I3 2100 Socket 1155 LGA. It's on a H61MHB Biostar motherboard. I also only have 8 gigs of DDR-3. My graphics card is an AMD R9 380 series with 4 gbs of memory.

I'm looking to upgrade my processor for gaming. I don't mind buying better RAM later on too.

i7-3770 is about the best you can do on an H61 as long as you have the latest BIOS update.

The K series may have been heavily overclocked and might not be as reliable as the non-K version. But either would be fine if you weren't overclocking.

I don't plan on overclocking. Is it worth it to stay with the H61, or should I just wait a month and upgrade both the processor and motherboard as a combo?

I think you could stick with the H61. Intel LGA 1151 and AMD AM4 use DDR4 RAM. If you wanted to upgrade you would have to upgrade CPU/Mobo and RAM if you wanted a current-gen CPU.
