Hi everyone!

I am planning to build a gaming pc for a friend and here is the build list:

CPU: i5 7600k 3.8GHz--------------------$327 (allneeds)
GPU: gainward 970 phantom4gb (bought)
MOBO: ASRock Z270 PRO4----$165 (allneeds)
RAM: G.skill ripjaw V F4-24000C15D-$159 (allneeds)
HDD: Seagate 3.5" BarraCuda 1TB---$65 (MSY)
CASE: Corsair Spec Alpha--------------$108 (allneeds)
PSU: EVGA supernova g1 gold 650w-$140 (allneeds)
SOWA: Windows10 (32/64 bit)-----$139 (allneeds)
CPUFAN: Hyper 212x cpu cooler----$49 (allneeds)

FULL BUILD: $1,152

The info within the brackets are just local stores.
I am planning to change the CPU to an i5 7500. that is if there is not a big difference between the if 7600k and i5 7500. I am doing this so i can save money.
so please let me know if the difference is big or not
and feel free to make some tweaks to the list. *parts are limited in Australia so please use the stores (link below)

Note that that processor is only 4 cores 8 threads - that's the same as an i7. If you plan on keeping this build for a long time, or at least the CPU for a long time, then the Ryzen 5 1600 will be a better choice for longevity. Really, Ryzen 5 1600 is the best, most balanced gaming CPU today(barring high refresh rate). If you can afford it, it is an excellent choice. But if it's impossible(nothing short of impossible), only then get the 1500X

It's your call now :). (I know I'm pushing a bit, but that's because it really is worth the extra money - I don't want you to later regret a choice based on some random guy's suggestion over the Internet.)
And what resolution and settings will he/she be playing at? Actually it doesn't matter as much - don't go for the i5 7500 if you can avoid it. In fact, my recommendation is Ryzen, especially if you'll be playing at 1440p, or if you only have a 1080p 60 Hz panel. If you'll be gaming at high refresh rate, ie, you have a monitor with >120 Hz refresh rate, then go for the 7600K. Avoid the 7500 no matter what. But if you are playing at less than 120 FPS, then I would recommend a Ryzen PC instead:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600
Cooler: Stock
Motherboard: Asus Prime B350-Plus, or any good B350 board available.
RAM: same
HDD: same
GPU: same
Case: same
PSU: same
OS: same

The benefit to Ryzen is that the 1600 is a 6 core processor, so it will last longer in games, and if you don't play at high refresh rates, the lower clock speed of Ryzen won't make any difference to performance.

But if you have a nice 1080p 120, 144 (or anything higher) Hz monitor, then it's the 7600K you'll need. It won't last as long, but it'll give you better FPS in current games.

If you can afford it, definitely the Ryzen 5 1600. If it's too expensive, try the Ryzen 5 1500X instead - but avoid the Ryzen 5 1400, it's not worth it. The 1500X has 4 cores, and comes with the same cooler as the 1600. But if you can push to the 1600, it's better than both of them.

I'll probably buy the Ryzen 5 1500X

Its all good. Ill take the Ryzen 5 1600 into consideration since you gave it a strong recommendations

It's a good motherboard, but it's not the best. It'll work, of course, but there are better boards out there. But it's still a good board - you can get it without too much worry. Just make sure you are getting warranty. But if you can wait for the B350-Plus to come back in stock(which shouldn't take long), it's a better overall board.
