Greetings,

I'd like if some expert here could help me figure out what's wrong with my computer. So, it has been running games smoothing for over 6 months (last time I've reinstalled Windows 10).

Lately, last couple of weeks... games have been crashing out of the blue and now they're almost all unplayable. I'm still testing but so far, here are the games that are malfunctioning:
- Heroes of the Storm
- Dead by Daylight
- Friday the 13th

I've upgraded my RAM from 8GB to 16GB one month ago. It gave me some issues at first, since I had other 2 RAM slots of 2GB each, so it was 20GB. The PC was simply crashing, not responding at all randomly. However, when I removed them and kept the 16GB (8+8), the issue disappeared. But I wonder if the new 8GB RAM I bought is not working properly from the start and it's giving issues again...

But then again, I am not sure what it is, for example on Dead by Daylight, it gives me a specific error upon crashing "Crash due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0006 - 'HUNG')" I checked it online and it seems to be a rendering bug for certain GFX cards, including mine: https://issues.unrealengine.com/issue/UE-42280

I updated my GFX card drivers too and fully scanned my PC for viruses and malware, nothing has been found. Formatted both disks... I think it might be this RAM that is not in a great shape and is causing malfunctions when the PC has to work at high performance aka in games. What do you people think?

My PC specs:
- GTX 1060 6GB
- AMD FX-8350
- 16 GB RAM
- Corsair CX750W
- Windows 10 64bit

Thanks in advantage.

Update/Solution: Some of my motherboard's RAM sockets are malfunctioning. I switched my 2 x8GB RAM to other slots and games are no longer crashing. It was a RAM issue after all.

Solution

install msi afterburner go into the setting and enable temp monitoring for both cpu and gpu in the OSD

play a game for a while, post back max temps
