Hi guys,
I have an issue with my computer that I've owned for a few years. This evening, I turned it on. I got a brief blue light in the front of the case, then it turned off. No sounds.

I then undid the case and plugged in again. The MB light came on when plugged in and everything looked fine. I pushed the power button at the front and the cpu and gpu fans spun momentarily before everything switched off.

I'm kind of stuck. Is there something I can try or should I go and buy a new PSU? To be honest, the only thing that spooks me about a computer is power so I'm not super confident. Then again I don't have the $$$ to start again!

I've tried some basic maintenance (dust etc.) and Google! There's talk of the paperclip test and unplugging components one at a time. I don't want to go there straight away when a simple solution may appear first.

Thanks for reading and any replies.

Just updatjng:

I detached the GPU, just in case. No improvement. I changed the power cable. Same.

I've now detached (finally, damn cable management) the PSU to try the old paperclip.

The paperclip created a high pitched noise and the fan labored and didn't start. I guess that means it is shot and it's time to but a new one...?

Is there anything else I can try?
