Idle temperatures high after cleaning

My idle temperatures were getting quite high (60 celsius), and I hadn't cleaned out my PC for a while, so I got rid of all of the dust, re-routed cables, took the cpu fan (stock) off and cleaned the dust off of it, then installing it again with new thermal compound.

My idle temperatures seem to be even higher...going up from 60 degrees to 65 degrees while idling.

I then went into the bios to try to increase the fan speed, and after I did that, the temperatures went up even more and are now 72-75 celsius!

CPU:
i5-4690k @ 3.7GHz
Stock fan running at 2922 RPM ('Turbo' in ASUS EZ Mode BIOS)

I checked the thermal compound to check that I hadn't put too little or too much and it seemed fine so I wiped it off with Isopropyl Alcohol 70% and re-applied it.

I understand that there are many threads relating to this kind of stuff but I seemed to have done everything that has already been said (reapplying thermal paste etc.). Thank you in advance.

I'm guessing that it is important too that the current ambient temperature is 27.5 celsius.

Solution
Make sure the cooler is completely connected to the motherboard at all four connection points. Even one of these not connected properly can have an effect on how well it transfers heat.

I laughed at this because I remembered that while re-installing the fan that the bottom left connection just didn't want to go in. I left it thinking it was okay, and left it. Pressing a little harder however and getting it properly in has just decreased the temps by around 22 degrees...*facepalm*: http://prntscr.com/fnbxlv. This is also with the fans back on normal speeds of 1638 RPM vs the 2922 RPM prior.

These are still quite high though? Any other methods of getting them lower?

Using a stock cooler? I'm not aware of any. You could upgrade the cooler to an aftermarket cooler of known good quality (i.e. DeepCool Gammaxx 400, Cryorig H7 or H5) that should bring down the temps more.

Well if there isn't anymore free options, I guess I will. Thanks
