So let's beat this age old topic like the dead horse it is.

My system was working all fine and dandy yesterday morning. Then I went to Microcenter to get an fx-8350...

Original build
Windows 10 64 bit AMD FX-4300 or something like that. Msi 990fxa-gd80 with newest bios and 2x8GB 1600 Ballistix ram (idr if spelled right, currently not at home to check) and a rx480 8gb. And I have a hyper 212 Evo (that's who I think the culprit is, but we'll see about that)

So I bought an 8350, installed it and now I'm showing 7.95 usable. Cpuz is showing it as single channel despite having it installed in slots 1-3 and 2-4 as per the manual. Ram was bought as a pair a little over 5 months ago and never had an issue. Running 1 stick at a time shows 8GB usable. Checked the pins on my CPU and they are perfect. No thermal paste anywhere besides on top of the CPU and on my 212. I've checked the max memory section and that was already unchecked.

What I'm gonna try is reseating the CPU another time but only placing the cooler on top and not screwing it and quickly checking what windows has to say about it then shutting down. No pressure means no problem right?

I will get screen shots once I'm out of work today and post them here. I've been searching forum after forum for possible solutions and I've tried about 98% of them. Also my temps look normal. The only other thing I can say is that occasionally it locks up now, but I think that it is a ram issue because it only happens when chrome is open. It's fine any other time and was fine before the install.

Update: So I tried booting my system with hyper 212 Evo just rest on the CPU, not screwed in and it showed my full 16gb in windows. Upon shutting down and screwing in the cooler I found that I am back down to 7.95. going to find the sweet spot and update.
