Building a Photo/Video Editing rig need help!!!

So long story short a friend of mine wants me to build his mom a new PC for video/photo editing and I am not sure what to look for when it comes to making a rig like this. She does want to be able to use 3-4 monitors with it as well. She is wanting to spend between 1000-1500. She does not have a brand preference either so that makes it easier shopping wise. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
If I forgot anything just ask and I will respond asap.

  2. Well AMD Ryzen is very good choice for video editing because of price point. Personally 3 monitors is overkill. 2 is great, 3 is pointless. Wildcard build looks good but for the best eiditng expriece you want 3 drives. 1 OS, 1 TEMP and one storage.

Do you know what software and shooting resolution your friend is going to be using? If it Adobe Products you can use any Geforce card for CUDA support. My 1070 was getting 900FPS for encoding H.264. Made very quick work of 4k videos for youtube.

I have no idea what she intends to do with it. Probably going to end up going with Wildcards build as well and upgrading the gpu to a 1070 since she doesnt need new monitors
  4. Just a heads up, since cryptocurrency mining has been gaining traction some of the GTX 1070's are overpriced for what they should be. Look at local stores for the better pricing.

Pricing should be around the $360-380 area.

Don't forget the third drive! That will prevent you having to read from and write to the same drive during the encoding process.
  6. They could go with a smaller M.2 for the OS, a 250-500gb for the temp and then a 1tb+ for storage.
  7. Yeah mid-range prices are insane right now. $500 for a 1070!? I paid $405 for one a year ago.
