Brand new motherboard, RAM and CPU wont work

Recently I purchased a new motherboard, cpu and ram

I put everything together and turned it on and the Front panel LED's (power button etc) didnt glow and my gpu fan stopped spinning after a second and only my ram and motherboard had their LED's working and cpu fan was going. I tried checking for display and nothing came up at all. so then I read and watched videos and shit and nothing seemed to make sense even tried removing cmos battery for a few mins etc and nothing so today I took it back to ple (shop I bought it from) and they assembled my ram, cpu and motherboard for me free of charge and said that the ram was faulty and they replaced it.

So I got home and simply put it in carefully (being 100% cautious) and hooked everything up all the right front panel connections and everything to have the exact same result...

Do you know what could be the problem? do you think maybe the guy didnt check the display when testing my parts and only looked at LED's and wrote it off as working?

I figured someone Might know and help me get to the bottom of this...

Does this imply that you then mounted this system in a case you already had? What I'm thinking of is the location of stand-offs.

Stand-offs are short (¼" about) usually metal pieces with a threaded shaft out one end, and a threaded hole in the other. They screw into pre-threaded holes in the back plate of the case, and then you use screws through mounting holes in the mobo into the stand-offs to fasten the mobo down to them. The case comes with many pre-drilled holes in its back plate - more than your mobo has - to allow adjustment for different mobo designs. You MUST arrange the stand-offs to match your mobo. If you used the same case and changed mobos, there's chance you did not...

Mobos are designed to be grounded to the case at the mounting screw locations, but nowhere else. Ideally, you want a stand-off under every mobo mounting hole so it can be securely fastened. But here's the IMPORTANT point: you must NEVER have a stand-off under the mobo where there is NOT a mounting hole! A stand-off in the wrong location can cause a short to ground.

So, if you are not sure this was done correctly, remove the mobo from the case and inspect all those stand-offs carefully. Make SURE they all line up with mobo mounting holes. Then re-install your mobo.
