All this assumes it works on arrival and he has some kind of guarantee.

IME it is motherboards that have issues first and I always sell mine for parts because I dont want come back when the buyer puts a screwdriver through it.

If you have the cash, I would be tempted to build from a brand new motherboard and consider second hand CPU etc if you can get at a good price.

I'd try and knock it down closer to £300 but I guess its not bad, you will have a good platform for your 1060. The problems are the CPU socket and DDR3 RAM are now end of life so no chance of reusing the motherboard or RAM with future upgrades. Which motherboard exactly is it and does this come with a CPU cooler?

Ok nothing special, I got one ages ago. Does its job but no bells and whistles, it was the low end of the Gigabyte Z87 range. With a cooler included £350 feels acceptable. You wont get the same performance buying new for that money but you would get a setup with better upgrade options, what's more important is up to you.

Impossible to say, games and applications are starting to benefit from more threads and the 1400 has 8 versus the 4 of recent i5 generations. The i5's have stronger cores and generally perform better as a result as most things don't use all 8 threads. The 1400 would give a great platform for upgrades as from what I read Ryzen 2 will use the same motherboards.

As I said it comes down to performance now over future upgrade path. Look up reviews of the 1400, if you think it will meet your needs which it sounds like it would then it sounds like a better long term option but I'm guessing, I don't know what will happen.
