I was thinking of upgrading my old PC with P5N73-AM - Asus motherboard. Im using it with a Pentium 4 processor which is quiet underpowered, please suggest a powerful enough cpu and also a graphics card so that I could play games on it...

Your motherboard has lga 775 cpu socket so you can buy any core 2 quad processor but Q9550S is the most high end cpu available for lga 775 cpu socket motherboard. Your motherboard only support 4 gb ram in that case gt 710 or 730 is good choice for graphics card.
