What should i upgrade first? Cpu or Gpu?

currently have a gtx 960 and an amd fx 8350. Planning on getting the gtx 1060 and an intel i7
i wanna run games like bf1 can the amd handlethe 1060

Solution
It's not a matter of whether or not the CPU can handle the video card. Better to look at it this way - will your FX-8350 not be able to deliver 60fps (or pick your fps target) in all of the games you want to play?

If your GPU is not up to the task, you can lower graphical settings to bring your framerates up. Even a GTX 750 can deliver over 60fps in BF1 with the right graphical settings. However, if you don't have a CPU up to the task, it doesn't matter what video card you have.

On the other hand, if you're content with the framerates your CPU can deliver, you can pair any video card you want with it, and you'll be able to run higher graphical settings before your framerates begin to dip.

Personally, I don't think you can go wrong...

Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with upgrading either. I generally lean toward having a better CPU, but you'll see benefit from a faster video card.

If you don't mind losing out on up to 25% of what the GTX 1060 is capable of then go ahead and get the GTX 1060 with that CPU. I'd upgrade my CPU first. Don't worry though if you do decide to upgrade your graphics card first. You will still see a boost in performance.

I'm basing it off of benchmarks that I've saw on youtube. I saw up to a 25% increase in performance on Ryzen vs the FX 8350. Usually it was closer to 5% or 10% but on games like Grand Theft Auto V and The Witcher 3 I saw up to a 25% difference. And that's just compared to Ryzen. On a Core i7 7700K that difference could be even more.
