Hello.
Can any one explain me clearly or point out a good tutorial that explains why a 100mbps wan fiber access (ftth/gpon) only gets speeds around 60 - 75mbps if tested on FE interface, but is ok (results of 100mbps) if i test on a GbE interface. I have searched all over the internet but i can't seem to find a clear, fundamented in depth explanation. Curious is that the upload speeds are much closer to the 100mps then the download speeds, as i said before all is ok if i connect to a GbE interface. the contrated service is 100dwn/100up.
thanks.

I would expect 90Mbit on 100Mbit wired. 60Mbit is underperforming. To have 100Mbit of data requires more than 100Mbit of network traffic. There are 40 bytes of overhead for each 1500 bytes of data. Additionally, your fast ethernet may have been in half duplex mode. That could explain the 60 vs 90 mbit.
Gigabit does not have a half duplex mode, it is always full duplex.
