So randomly after leaving my PC alone I go to do something and come back after a while, my PC is just froze nothing works, not even the power button. I had to resort to turn off the PC with the psu switch which I know is not good for you PC at all. So I try to turn it on but then it turns on for a second and quickly shuts off and repeats the process. This is a very new PC I am only 15 so it took my forever to save up for this thing, so I freak out and go online and look for solutions. One of the threads I saw said to take out a stick of ram and try starting it which I did and it turned on. I went into the bios of my motherboard and couldn't figure out what was going on so I turned off the PC, and put in the second that I took out and the same thing happened. But once I tried again with one stick it failed starting and kept retrying to start. So I took the first stick out and put in the second one in place of it, then I placed the first in the 3rd ram slot like you are supposed too. It started and everything is OK, I am currently posting this thread off of the same computer I just want to know why and if there is a way to avoid it happening again. Thank You!

only need 700W if your planning to run 2 GPU's.
a quality 550W psu can run a 7700k and a 1080Ti with no problems

corsair cx550M or seasonic M12II for modular units -- cx650m is cheaper than 550 at amazon so I liked to it

I used amazon, assuming that it is the preferred store...

you can download memtest86 you can run that for three passes, may take a few hours to get to three passes (set it to run overnight) but if any memory errors are found it will tell you. this will let you verify the RAM.
which power supply, make and model?

there is your next upgrade then. Bluntly put that is a dangerous power supply.
I guess 25A on 12V? Or 300 usable watts.
check the label under 12V there is the amperage, I'll bet that there is more amperage on the 3.3v rail and even more amperage under the 5V rail.

can you get/borrow another PSU for testing the RAM?

If it isn't the source of your immediate problems now, it will be the source of problems later.

Buying a horrible quality PSU for something like $20 is a false economy as you will end up replacing PSUs far more often and increase the risk that your PSU will kill some if not all of your PC's components when it dies. Saving $20 today compared to a $38-45 430-620W Seasonic S12-II is not worth the $500+ it may cost you to repair your PC later.
