Hello computer world, long timer reader and first time poster.

And my question to many of you experts is: Is taking components from an old computer (such as memory sticks or RAM to be precise) and putting them into a new computer (new motherboard and everything) bad for the new comp?

Thank you guys for the answers and the help!

Solution
There are different specs for RAM over the years, DDR, DDR2, DDR3 & DDR4. You'll need to look at the markings on the RAM from the old computer. Determine the exact type that you have. Then, you need to look up the new motherboard specs and see if the RAM is compatible.
