I only have a low power G4560 for my cpu, is 450 w enough for 290x?
My Psu is Seasonic G-series 450w 80+Gold... If not I might just go for a slightly slower 970...

Solution
That PSU is perfectly capable of running a 290x and that CPU you have.

The Tom's Hardware charts shows the worst 290x pulling 262w on a gaming load, and that's the card alone.

I'm currently mining with a slightly overclocked 290 and the entire system is pulling 265w from the wall.

The 290x is a bit of a power hog. If you can get a 550-600W PSU, that should cover you and have plenty of wiggle room for any other unaccounted for variables.

The GTX 970 is only a tad slower, but does use a little less power as it is a newer and more efficient design. Still though, I would get a little more wattage to cover either card, but it depends on budget and those other variables again.

Ill just get a 970 for less complication :) That being said, the 290x is 20$ cheaper Than gtx 970 in my country, I could also sell my current my psu and upgrade it to a 550-650w psu and get the 290x, what you guys think?

Whatever GPU you choose, I think you would still benefit from having a little more power availability. Of course, do what works for your budget, and whatever is easier for you.

You may have a version of the 290x that may have a better cooler, and possibly even better build quality. Then there is the silicon lottery. The 290x has a reputation for being a power hog, run hot, and depending on the cooler, it could be a bit noisy.
