How to check hardware fail

Is there a way to check if my psu or my motherboard has given up? I dont have spare parts to test with.. the pc was only booting when i unplugged all usb devices for a few days and now wont even get to bios. The psu is very old and motherboard about 3.5 years..ive tried unplugging the gcard to just use onboard video.

Exactly how old is your power supply and who makes it?..If you look at EVGA's high end psu's they give a 10 year warranty so they expect them to last that long. Other's have a 5 year warranty while cheap ones typically have a 3 year warranty. I would certainly expect a high end psu to last at least 5-7 years. Cheap quality power supplies can die after just 3 years of use.

Rip. That was a great power supply. Now the power Supply is not providing enough power for the motherboard to boot.
