Need help setting up my internet connection.

My new pc will probably arrives this week, so i need to know how to connect my internet. I have a wifi modem/router i used mostly for laptop, mobile and tablet. It looks like this http://imgur.com/a/qpA8E The red cable on the top picture is linked to the red of the bottom picture. The blue cable on the bottom picture is linked to my homephone. The cable behind on the bottom picture is linked towards INSIDE MY CEILING??? I have no idea why its inside my ceiling. So what things do i need and how do i connect it??

Last, is this thing called a Modem or Router?? Im confused...

That is technically a modem/router combo because it handles the wifi as well as connecting to the dsl connection. If you can run an ethernet cable from the router to your new computer, that would be the best choice. Otherwise you have to deal with a wifi connection.

So using the elthernet cable, where should i connect?? Asl or the lan 1,2,3...??

Any of them, but LAN 1 is fine

Erm...im not sure if this is bad or not. The router is located inside the other room which is like 10meter away my room. With the long eternet cable, will my internet slow down??

Nope, ethernet cables go about 100 meters before losing speeds
