I have an R9 Fury, AMD Fx 8370 and an XL2411. from what I've heard these all should support 144Hz I have a DVI-D to DP and an HDMI cord (these cords are the only two I can use that support 144Hz because my graphics card doesn't have a DVI-D port and my monitor doesn't have a DP port) that states on the box it supports up to 240Hz.
When I go to the monitor settings in Windows there is no option, not even 120Hz. I also tried the disk for the driver and an online one from the site. I cannot figure out any solution nor find one online. How do I fix this issue?

Solution
DVI dual link to displayport won't display 144hz unless it's an active adapter, read this

so the active dp to dvid costs 100$ and the reviews say it doesn't always work. would it be more easy to return my XL2411 and buy the ASUS vg248qe since it has a display port on it and i don't need any of these converters?

Yes, that is what I would do. Unless it's a simple converter like DP to DVI for 60hz use or something without fancy electronics, a cheap one may not work well and the high end one may also not work very well. Spending $100 then finding out you don't like it then trying to return it is not as good as just fixing it the right way in the first place.
