The crucial website says that the Ballistix Tactical 4GB DDR3-1600 UDIMM LP is not compatible with the Intel DQ67SW. I found this odd because it is compatible with Ballistix Tactical 8GB DDR3-1600 UDIMM LP. The only difference is the memory size between these kits as far as I can tell. They have the same voltage, CAS latency and speed. Therfore I have no reason to believe there is any incompatibility despite what the crucial compatibility checker says. If anyone could provide further insight that would be much appreciated.

Solution
Not all memory is validated to work with every motherboard.

You can either take your chances, or use the list of validated memory at the DQ67SW motherboard site and find (via pcpartpicker) an exact match.

BIOS updates sometimes contain new SPD profiles so that "XMP" for example can be easily applied (the BIOS needs to be updated if you want it to know the EXACT details of memory).

In general I've found that most memory has a very good chance of working if it's physically compatible. At worst, you may need to manually adjust the frequency and/or timings a bit.
