so I'm planning to oc my i5 6600k and maybe try to reach 4.6ghz.but one thing I never understood about overclocking is how much voltage I need.

if I were to oc my cpu 100mhz up,how much voltage do I need to increase for a 100mhz oc?

and if I were to increase the clock speed and jump from 3.50ghz to 4ghz and my pc crashes because I did not have enough voltage, how much should I increase my voltage? by 1?by 5? or by 10?

Solution
1.4V is the "safe voltage", 1.5V is the set limit.

Overclock your CPU to 4.6Ghz (your desirable clock speed) and set voltage to 1.4V first. Then, just slowly lower the voltage every time by 0.05V until unstable.

so that's how most people find out where their voltage should sit.

also do you reckon I could do it the other way around?like jump to 4.6ghz and increase my voltage from stock by 0.5 instead?
