use 2nd harddrive as storage

i recently bought a new internal harddrive, how do i use it as a storage. do i have to install windows or some kind of OS into it for my windows to recognize it? or do i have to format it? can someone help me please

The Paladin
install the hardware in your pc
reboot into windows
start - windows administration - computer management
left column - click in storage @ Disk management
you new drive will show and a blank drive.
right click "activate"
right click format new partition.
enjoy.

Just install the drive into your system like any other drive, I take it you already have a hard drive in your system with windows on it, if this is the case, just boot to windows and it should detect the new one, if it doesn't, you may have to go through disk management to initialise it.
