Hello I'm currently working on overclocking my i7 4790k I currently have it at 4.6 GHz at 1.245 Volts and I would like to get to 4.8 GHz but I cannot raise my core voltage any higher than 1.245 is there any way to go past that?

Solution
As long as you can keep safe temps, then yes.

You'll find a lot of different opinions about what voltage to not exceed.

Some say 1.3, some 1.35, some 1.4

From what I've found, temps really start to ramp up after 1.3v and personally I like to keep it under 1.35v.

I'm currently running 4.6ghz @ 1.27 volts.

I can safely run up to 4.8ghz @ 1.32v but temps start to get a bit warm for my liking at that setting.

all I changed was I turned on the XMP profile and changed the multiplier to 46 for 4.6GHz I just cannot go above 1.245 volts for some reason.

Okay I will follow this guide but my voltage is still stuck at 1.245 I read that 1.3 is safe for everyday operation is there a way to go over 1.245?

I have it set to manual in my UEFI Bios and I still cant go over 1.245 :/

also if I have my cpu set to 4.6GHz what should my uncore frequency be I'm confused on what that does exactly.

Just to make sure you're changing the correct setting, it's CPU Core Voltage Override that you need to change.

Like in this pic:

I figured it out at 4.7GHz and 1.275 volts my temps are around 75c at full load with Prime95 what about the CPU uncore frequency? it talks about that in the guide.

Okay and do you think it's safe to go over 1.3 volts or not?
