Will a Xeon X3450 and an Asus P7P55D motherboard work together well?

Solution
I don't think they'll work together at all. The X3450 doesn't appear on the CPU support list for the board:

They are 'socket compatible', but that doesn't mean it'll just work.

Ultimately, the X3450 is the i5-750 + hyperthreading (ok, not 100% exact, but essentially). Same clock speed, cache, bus speed, max memory, PCIe lanes etc. Depending on what you use the setup for, the added threads may/may not be useful to you.

Why not just OC the i5? Should be able to push to near 4GHz.
