Getting a new cpu

Im planning to get a new cpu but i can't decide what cpu should i buy
I currently have i5-3470 and a z77 so im fine with getting a new motherboard too
I mainly game
i was looking to buy i5-7600k with z270k but watching all these videos about cpus and some saying go with ryzen and others with an i5 so i don't know what should i get
I have gtx 1070
1440p 144 monitor

in the current gaming market, intel does perform better as they have better IPC
Ryzen is really good as well and delivers great performance at a cheaper price

So, if you want that bit extra gaming performance and don't mind spending a bit more, then go intel
If you want the best value gaming performance, go Ryzen

The Ryzen seems to be a bit stronger using higher resolutions at higher refresh rates for some reason. To get that same benefit with the Intel package, you'd have to spend more $ and go with an i7, I think. I have both a Ryzen 1600X rig and a i5-7600 rig. At 1080p/60 Hz, they pretty well trade punches depending on the game. But Ryzens seem to be a tiny bit limited at that rez, from what I've read.

Off topic; what 1440p monitor do you have? I'm thinking of going 1440p, but hate to get into too small of text. And how is the 1070 with 1440P? Have to lower settings any from 1080p?

You are strictly gaming, correct? If so, go with the B250 and a i7-7700 and you will not go wrong. You should be able to hit 144 fps easily in most games on high to ultra settings.
